On the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur and discussing some of the transfer business that the Lilywhites could conduct this summer.
One topic of discussion on his recent video was Spurs’ likelihood of signing a striker this summer. Jose Mourinho bemoaned his lack of striking options following the injury to Harry Kane in the most recent Premier League season, so it is unsurprising to hear Gold tipping the Lilywhites to sign a forward ahead of next season.
Here’s what the journalist had to say on the subject in his video:
“Spurs are going to buy a striker this summer. [If] they don’t, it’ll be an absolute disaster. All signs are pointing towards the fact that they are.”
TIF Thoughts…
With Troy Parrott also looking likely to join Championship side Millwall on a season-long loan deal ahead of next season, Spurs would certainly be short of natural striker options in their squad if they weren’t to add a striker to their ranks in the summer transfer window.
Do you expect Spurs to sign a striker this summer?
Yes
No
The Lilywhites have been linked with a move for Bournemouth ace Callum Wilson in recent weeks, following the Cherries’ relegation to the Championship, so perhaps we will see him brought in to play either as a backup to, or to play alongside, Kane in Spurs’ attack.
Gold certainly thinks it would be “an absolute disaster” if the North London club failed to sign a striker, so it will be interesting to see what transfer business they are able to do before the start of the 2020/21 campaign.
