In the latest video on his YouTube channel, Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur and also looking ahead to their game against Everton on Monday night.

One topic of discussion on the recent video was Spurs owner Joe Lewis, and whether he might pump some money into the club, due to the financial impact of the current viral outbreak. It has been suggested that Jose Mourinho will be reliant on free transfers and swap deals in the upcoming transfer window, whilst failure to qualify for the Champions League will also have a detrimental effect on Spurs’ finances.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Gold had to say about Spurs’ billionaire owner:

“I can’t see the way that this transfer window is going to operate unless Spurs find money from somewhere. We know Joe Lewis isn’t going to pump money in, it’s never been his way in the 20 years previously, which is ultimately frustrating because this is the window that UEFA have said ‘we’re going to relax Financial Fair Play regulations because we know you clubs are going to need to find money from somewhere.'”

TIF Thoughts…

ENIC became majority shareholders of Tottenham Hotspur in 2000, taking over from previous owner Alan Sugar (per The Guardian). Financially, their time with the north London club has been a huge success, with the Lilywhites recently named as the eighth-richest team in the Deloitte Football Money League.

Are you frustrated with ENIC's ownership?

However, during their time with the club, Spurs have won just one trophy, which came in the form of a League Cup win in 2008, so you could certainly argue that the squad needs more investment if ENIC wants to deliver success on the pitch as well as off it.
