The United Kingdom’s foreign secretary Dominic Raab has unveiled sanctions against those guilty of human rights abuse in Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, Russia and North Korea (via The Guardian).
Following the announcement, Newcastle United-focused journalist Mark Douglas took to social media to confirm that those who will face the aforementioned sanctions ‘don’t include’ anyone linked to the takeover of the Magpies.
The Premier League is yet to make an announcement in regards to whether or not they have approved the takeover, some 12 weeks after the owners’ and directors’ tests begun and therefore the wait continues for those who follow the club. Here is how a sample of the St. James’ Park faithful have responded to Douglas’ post.
Well done Mark for doing the research and not clickbaiting. I just came to the same conclusion.
At first I thought this was a KSA sanction, turns out it’s just sanctions on individuals, most of which are locked up already.

But nevertheless the national press will have a field day and we as fans will no doubt have another 2 weeks of it possibly can’t happen now

Have you become disinterested with all the takeover talk?
Yes
No
It is clear from the nature of some of these replies that the supporters have grown tired of the constant speculation and frustrated by the fact the takeover is yet to be concluded.
Still think this will go through but the PL are delaying this to the hilt in the hope it’s taken out of their hands.

Is it all over yet? What the hell else can be thrown at this to make it come unstuck … remember the excitement? Cans? The feeling of change? Long time ago that

Surely it’s criminal to drag it on this long any other club it would of been a done deal by now

That’s good news then, had doubts when the news about the UK sanctions was mentioned earlier

Steve Bruce’s side has picked up eight points since the Premier League’s restart and currently have 43 points which is just two points fewer than what they finished on last season with five games to spare. The team have clearly improved this season, however, in our view, it seems as though their on-field progress has been overshadowed by the proposed takeover of the club.
