In the latest episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Lee McQueen, Alasdair Gold and Darren Lewis have been reflecting on the north London club’s season and looking ahead to the 2020/21 campaign.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled ‘Spurs Secure Europe‘, was reported Spurs transfer target Kim Min-jae. The South Korean international has been heavily linked with a move to the north London club in recent weeks, although it seems as if Beijing Guoan are demanding £15 million for the centre-back (per Evening Standard).

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Gold had to say about Spurs’ interest in Min-jae on the podcast:

“Spurs have been sniffing around Kim Min-jae, the South Korean, young centre-back. It’s not a sexy signing, it’s not one of these massive money signings that would transform a defence, it’s very much an opportunistic one. I was told by Sungmo Lee, who’s a South Korean football journalist, he told me he is the best defensive product they’ve produced in the last 20 years. Spurs are looking at him. They want that price to come down. It’s about £15 million at the moment.”

TIF Thoughts…

With Jan Vertonghen having departed the North London club, and Juan Foyth being linked with a loan move away, you could certainly argue that Spurs are in need of defensive reinforcements this summer. The Lilywhites were able to keep just eight clean sheets in the most recent Premier League season, and perhaps signing Min-jae, a man nicknamed ‘the monster’, would go some way towards improving those defensive issues ahead of next season.

Do you think Spurs will sign Min-jae?

It will be interesting to see if Spurs can agree on a price for the 23-year-old with Beijing Guoan and whether we will see him in a Spurs shirt ahead of next season.
