Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder recently spoke to BBC Radio Sheffield and he admitted that “there might be a couple” of Blades players who will leave this summer, should they fail to agree on a new contract with the club, as per Sheffieldunited.news

This article from Sheffieldunited.news quotes Wilder as saying that “there might be a couple of contract situations that don’t get sorted out” this summer and the Blades boss explained that players may leave the club as a result.

To kick off this 1990s Premier League quiz, which season was the Premier League's inaugural campaign?

Sheffieldunited.news’ report goes on to name Chris Basham, John Egan, and John Lundstram as three of the players who are currently in talks with the Blades over a new deal and may leave the club if those contract negotiations fail.

Both Basham and Lundstram have currently got less than 12 months remaining on their respective deals at Bramall Lane and if the club fails to renew their contracts, then it may be understandable if they are sold this summer in order to avoid the players departing from Bramall Lane on a free transfer upon the expiration of their contracts next summer.

Meanwhile, Egan is currently under contract with the Yorkshire-based club until 2022, however, as per Sheffieldunited.news, the Republic of Ireland international is said to have caught the attention of ‘other Premier League teams’ thanks to his performances for the Blades this season and if Sheffield United fail to agree on a new deal with the defender then it mightn’t come as a big surprise if Wilder’s club opts to cash in on him this summer.

Which of these players do you least want to see leave Bramall Lane this summer?

TIF Thoughts…

This report states that Wilder ‘is said to have grown frustrated’ over Lundstram’s contract talks and Sheffieldunited.news also states that the midfielder ‘has increasingly become a squad player’ since Sander Berge moved to Bramall Lane in January. With that in mind, it mightn’t come as a surprise if Lundstram is one of the players that Wilder has claimed the Blades “might” lose this summer.

However, as per WhoScored, Basham and Egan are Sheffield United’s highest and second-highest rated players, respectively, in the Premier League for the 2019/20 season. With that in mind, it may be a bigger blow for the club if those two depart from Bramall Lane this summer and Wilder may hope to agree on a new deal with the defensive pair.
