A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to a post from George Caulkin that includes an article from The Athletic about the situation that the Toon find themselves in with the ongoing takeover.
The piece claims that what should have been a great time of excitement has turned into an ‘exhausting’ saga that has drained the life from Newcastle and its fans.
This tweet drew the attention of these Toon fans, who let rip at the Premier League for allowing this situation to continue.
Do the Premier League now just have to make a decision?
Yes, this is ridiculous now
No, they have to take their time
Great article gentlemen, and one the @premierleague should read to understand the impact this is having on the whole club, fans and PAYE staff included!

Great article. You’d think the @premierleague, a business, sees harm this vacuum is causing to another business. Ashley has emotionally gone, yesterday’s quotes from Charnley were likely from January. The PL is walking a fine line between using leverage and negligence. #NUFC

George are the new owners even answering questions any more? Or are the @premierleague
now burying their heads in the sand hoping it will go away?— Nick woppett (@NickWoppett) July 21, 2020
In our view, this piece by Caulkin and Athletic colleague Chris Waugh does well to encapsulate the feeling on Tyneside at the moment.
The takeover process was handed to the PL in April after a deal between Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium and Mike Ashley was agreed.
The consortium were told the process would take a matter of weeks, but here we are in July, and still, we have heard nothing.
It is clear that these Newcastle fans also blame the Premier League for this situation.
Make or break this. Massive revolt incoming if not

It’s pathetic. The transfer window opens in less than a week and the club don’t no who the owners are going to be. Richard masters has left the club players manager and supporters devoid of any emotion. What logical excuse is there for not saying yes or no?

Good piece fellas. The vacuum is significantly impacting 1 of the PL’s shareholders. If it’s ultimately blocked part way through – or even worse, at the end of – the transfer window, the PR (& possibly legal) ramifications could be significant for the PL. They must know this?

@premierleague life sucking….

It feels like a Mexican standoff to me. PL clearly wanting…..something?..from the Saudis. Saudis not wanting to give. It’s become a pressure cooker and we wait to see where the fault line opens up. Only Newcastle eh?

The process has been plagued by issues over piracy and constant geopolitical conflict between Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The Premier League has repeatedly insisted that the process is confidential but to have not even provided any insight into what is going on could be seen as disrespectful towards Newcastle fans.
Steve Bruce has consistently asked for clarity on the situation, but the saga rumbles on.
PL chief executive Richard Masters has said that he wanted to announce a decision soon, so hopefully, there really is not much more of this to go.
