Luke Edwards has been speaking on the latest episode of True Faith’s NUFC podcast and has been discussing the proposed takeover of Newcastle United.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

The Daily Telegraph reporter talked about other things relating to Newcastle but spent a bit of time on the Toon’s proposed takeover by Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium.

While discussing what stage the bid is at, Edwards revealed that the Premier League have not rejected it yet.

“This takeover now, it’s stalled, is it going to collapse? I don’t know; it hasn’t been rejected by the Premier League yet – that’s encouraging, because if they were going to reject it, obviously, it would be over.

“There’s an opportunity maybe to get it through, but it has stalled, it is in trouble, there are problems.”

So, it seems as if Staveley’s bid to take Newcastle from Mike Ashley, which has been with the Premier League since April, now looks like it has stalled.

Do you think the takeover will be passed even though it has stalled now?

Yes, eventually an agreement will be reached

No, this is it

TIF Thoughts…

This is an honest view from Edwards, and it seems to suggest that though the takeover is not dead, it is not progressing any further either.

The Premier League are not happy with the answers they have received, and it remains to be seen what happens now.

However, the Toon are now a club in limbo, and with no end to this takeover saga in sight, Steve Bruce must now prepare for next season with a budget of £35m plus player sales.

Hopefully, the takeover is resolved soon, but judging by Edwards’ claim (53:54), that could be unlikely.
