The Shields Gazette’s Liam Kennedy has been on a recent episode of NUFC Matters with Steve Wraith and has been speaking about the proposed takeover of Newcastle United by Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

Kennedy went into great detail on the takeover and revealed that he had been putting pressure on the Premier League as the process was handed to them in April and they have still not reached a decision.

Here is what he had to say on the Premier League and its response to fears that the PL are hoping to sweep this under the carpet:

“I’ll let you all know out there that I am constantly onto them, but there is very little that they can say officially, anyway.

“The answer that I got back was a very straight answer that they really cannot talk about any part of this process.

“I wasn’t asking for specifics, but I thought I might have got some kind of steer on that, but they’re keeping their cards close to their chest.”

So, it seems as if Kennedy received the same response as everyone else has got from the Premier League that they are not prepared to comment on any part of this takeover process.

Do you want the Premier League to say something?

Yes, they can't let this continue for much longer

No, they don't have to say anything

No, they don't have to say anything

TIF Thoughts…

Richard Masters has been asked by Sky Sports and a selection of MPs to provide some insight into the proposed takeover of the Toon, but every time he has insisted that it is a confidential process and he cannot say anything.

This is all well and good, but when Newcastle are in limbo and are approaching the transfer window, you would think that the PL might offer some insight into what is going on with the ownership of one of their member clubs.

It is fine to sit there and refuse to say anything, but this process was handed to the Premier League in April, and we are still no further forward.

So, we think the PL should provide some insight into what is going on because this situation is killing Newcastle.
