Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has been singing the praises of Reds defender Virgil van Dijk.
This comes after Henderson recently gave an interview on the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast to talk to their journalist Paul Gorst.
On the topic of Van Dijk, Henderson was full of praise for the Dutch defender.
He said: “Virgil [Van Dijk] is a huge player for us as everybody knows, he’s made such a big difference since he’s come to the football club, as a footballer, as a person, leader, everything. I haven’t really got enough words to describe him.
“What you see on a football pitch is, for me, the best centre-half in the world. That makes a big difference to the team, gives the team confidence and again, he just carries on to get better and better. He’s grown over the past couple of years as well since coming to the club into a real leader and another huge, huge player for this football club.”
Van Dijk signed to the Merseyside club back in the 2018 January transfer window from fellow Premier League side Southampton for a club-record fee of £76.19 million.
Since then, the 29-year-old, who is currently valued at £72 million according to Transfermarkt, has made a total of 121 appearances in which he has managed to score 11 goals and provide six assists along the way (per Transfermarkt)
The defender has been one of Liverpool’s top performers this season, having earned himself a season rating of 7.29/10, making him the third-highest rated player for this campaign, alongside his fellow defender Joel Matip on the same rating (per WhoScored).
