Lee Ryder has been speaking on the latest episode of the Everything is Black and White podcast and has been discussing various topics all related to Newcastle United.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

One of the subjects that Ryder talked about was the future of Matty Longstaff on Tyneside, which from his view, is looking pretty bleak.

This is what Ryder had to say about the 20-year-old:

“Unfortunately, it’s looking like the end, unless something absolutely spectacular happens in the last week of the season.

“Newcastle don’t seem to want to budge on what they’ve offered him; he doesn’t seem to think it’s a good deal for him.

“Certainly, doesn’t seem to be a plan in place for him to play; I think it’s been played out quite shabbily, really, because while there’s been assurances that the reason he’s not playing is because of the contract, Steve Bruce has tried to play that down. At the end of the day, if he can’t come on for 20 minutes when you’ve still got two substitute slots you can use, you do feel that it’s the end of him.”

It seems as if Longstaff will be leaving Newcastle when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Is this the end for Matty Longstaff at Newcastle?

Yes, he is gone

No, he could still stay

TIF Thoughts…

The 20-year-old, who is valued at £3.24m by Transfermarkt, broke through to the Toon’s first team last summer and scored on his league debut against Manchester United.

He has reportedly received an offer in the region of £30,000 per week to sign for Udinese this summer.

The Toon allegedly responded with an offer of £20,000 per week for a player who has only made 15 appearances for Newcastle’s first team, but it seems as if he doesn’t think it is good enough. (14:05)

What might not have helped matters is the fact that Steve Bruce has limited Longstaff to just 27 minutes in the league since the restart of the season.

If Ryder is to be believed (14:05), it is looking like the 20-year-old will be leaving Tyneside on the expiration of his current deal.
