Fans of Newcastle United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that claim Arsenal are not interested in signing Allan Saint-Maximin this summer.
According to comments made in The Athletic’s Ornstein & Chapman Podcast (via The Chronicle), Saint-Maximin is not a player who is on the radar of the North London side this summer.
In reaction to the news, which was relayed by The Chronicle on Twitter, fans of Newcastle have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many questioning why the player would be considering a move to Arsenal, as they believe it would be a downgrade from playing for Newcastle.
Why would he downgrade?

Down grading anyways.

He’s too good for them anyway

Since moving to Newcastle from Nice in a £16.2 million deal last summer, Saint-Maximin has highly impressed for the North East club.
Over his 22 Premier League appearances so far this term, the winger has scored three goals and provided four assists, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.32 – ranking him as the club’s best performer so far this season (stats accurate prior to Wednesday’s Premier League fixtures).
Is Saint-Maximin Newcastle's best player?
Yes, he is fantastic
No, he is good but not their best player
As a result of these impressive performances, the Frenchman has recently been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, however, if The Chronicle’s reports are to be believed, then Arsenal are not actually interested in the winger.

Amazing that you can make a story up just to dismiss it. 30 articles created by a made up story. Good old Chronicle. #nufc

It would appear from these comments that some fans of the club believe the story to be made up by The Chronicle, despite the fact that the article cites The Ornstein & Chapman Podcast as its source for the information.
Regardless of this fact, the news that one of the so-called Premier League ‘big six’ is not interested in the Newcastle star should be good for fans of the club, as it would now appear more likely that Saint-Maximin will be a Newcastle player for a little while longer yet.
