Many Newcastle United supporters have been reacting to a tweet from the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope in which he claims Steve Bruce’s supporters are his ‘biggest problem right now’.
The 59-year-old’s Magpies currently sit 13th in the Premier League, 16 points clear of the relegation zone. Having picked up eight points since the season resumed last month, Newcastle need just three points to better their points total of 45 last season under former boss Rafael Benitez.
The club’s record in the English top flight this season doesn’t appear to have impressed Hope and here is how a sample of the St. James’ Park faithful have responded to the tweet in which he described this as a ‘fairly miserable season’.
Spot on this, Craig.

Got it in one. Some of the absolute tripe coming from the mouths of his mates in the media is truly staggering.

Would you say Steve Bruce has done a bad job this season?
Yes
No
It seems, however, that not all of these Newcastle fans agree with Hope and many have leapt to the defence of their current boss, slamming the journalist for his remarks.
Define miserable were you hoping for top 5 this season? He took a job that in the current state no other high profile manager would touch with a barge pole. His remit was to maintain PL status. He’s done that. Possible finish in top half is doable! Miserable is what’s below us!

You have slammed the bloke all season.. you’re a liar and this tweet is up their with the very worst I have seen..
Bruce is lucky if he has 20% of the fan base..all season the rafa army have slated him.. he has done well in circumstance and its nice to see us being safe.

I think a bigger problem is you making wildly inaccurate claims. I don’t see anybody other than the odd daft pundit saying anything other than Bruce has done a good job under the circumstances. Ashley is the problem here – not Benitez, not Bruce, and not fans of either…

After losing their opening two games of the season, Bruce’s side has enjoyed league victories over Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea this season. They also managed to reach the latter stages of the FA Cup before being eliminated by Manchester City in the quarter-finals at the end of last month (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).
Judging by the above responses, Bruce clearly divides opinion amongst the supporters but in our view, it has been a fairly steady season in terms of results having ensured the club’s survival in the top flight for another season.
