Supporters of Newcastle United have been flocking to a Twitter post from the official account of the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
On Monday morning, a tweet from PIF revealed that it ‘plans to boost assets under management’ which will boost local economic growth in Saudi Arabia (per PIF).
The Public Investment Fund is currently hoping to finance 80% of a £300m takeover of the Toon, who have been owned by Mike Ashley since 2007.
So, following the social media post from the Twitter account, lots of Newcastle supporters flocked to it to air their reactions.
#PIF plans to boost assets under management to USD ~400 billion in 2020 from USD ~223 billion in 2017. In doing so, we aim to contribute 6.3%, or over USD 45 billion, to the Kingdom’s GDP. Read more in the link below. https://t.co/QcLTIoQIGv

The takeover is currently with the Premier League as they are yet to make a decision over whether it will be approved and Steve Bruce has openly asked for “clarity” on the situation (per Sky Sports).
Do you believe that the sale of Newcastle United will be allowed by the Premier League?

The current saga surrounding the takeover of the club has been rumbling on since January, which was when Amanda Staveley’s interest in buying the club backed by PIF first arose (via Shields Gazette).
Even the Premier League’s chief executive Richard Masters has admitted that he would “like the process to conclude shortly” (per The Guardian).
