Many Newcastle United supporters have been responding to a tweet from The Athletic’s football news and investigations reporter Matt Slater.
In his post, Slater highlighted that the Premier League’s owners’ and directors’ test is not just limited to those named as directors. He clarified that: ‘It also applies to anyone who can exert influence over those directors. This is to stop banned people from pulling the strings (shadow directors). This is an issue for PIF.’
Those presiding over the checks began their process ‘a while’ ago now, yet we still await any communication with regards to the Premier League’s findings and the subsequent decision.
Here is how some of the St. James’ Park faithful have responded to the post via social media.
I think that’s just your opinion rather than a statement of fact.

I think the PL have had more than enough time to do there research and come to an conclusion. It’s starting to becoming embarrassing and unprofessional

We never do anything the easy way. If we ever found someone who was perfect they would say no because his feet smell.

Do you believe Matt Slater's comments to be accurate?
Yes
No
It’s clear from some of the responses that whilst some appear to be angry with the amount of time the Premier League are taking over this, others aren’t convinced that Slater’s take on things is entirely accurate.
So they could literally just pluck any random person in the world and say they are indirectly involved

This tweet is almost beyond comprehension – how exactly does the process define those that can ‘exert’ influence out of interest and then apply that generically across any ODT. Wowzer Sigh!!!!

How is that an issue for Pif??? Please elaborate!

Don’t see how it could be about people who aren’t named on the director/owner of the club! So who’s banned then Matt fill us in? Doubt will get a reply !

Slater’s comments don’t appear to have gone down well with this group of Newcastle United supporters. Whilst the speculation regarding whether or not the deal will be given the green light continues, fortunately for Steve Bruce, it doesn’t appear to have distracted his players with the Magpies having picked up eight points so far since the restart.
