Kate Mason, Pete Donaldson and Vithushan Ehantharajah appeared on a recent edition of the Football Ramble Daily podcast where they shared their thoughts on the latest goings-on in England’s top-flight. During the show, Ehantharajah claimed that Spurs are said to be interested in Norwich City right-back Max Aarons.

As per Transfermarkt, Serge Aurier is currently the only Tottenham player whose preferred position is the right-back position, with fellow Spurs right-back Kyle Walker-Peters out on loan at Southampton at present

To kick off this 1990s Premier League quiz, which season was the Premier League's inaugural campaign?

During this recent edition of the Football Ramble Daily podcast, Ehantharajah spent some time discussing the talent in bottom-of-the-table Norwich City’s squad and the journalist mentioned that £18m-rated Canaries right-back Aarons has attracted interest from Spurs.

Ehantharajah said: “[Norwich City] have got some really good young players. I don’t know if Max Aarons is going to play, it sounds like Spurs are quite keen on him to replace Serge Aurier.”

The journalist then went on to share that he believes Aurier is inconsistent, declaring that “sometimes he’s brilliant,” while other times, the Ivory Coast international makes him think: “What are you doing? Why are you doing this?”

Would Aarons be a good signing for Spurs?

TIF Thoughts…

Spurs may need to sign another right-back considering the lack of natural depth that currently exists in that position in their squad. Should Norwich City get relegated this term, then it may be understandable if some members of the Canaries’ squad seek a departure from Carrow Road in the summer and Aarons, as their joint-most valuable player according to Transfermarkt, is arguably therefore a prime target for potential suitors. Indeed, Tottenham have been previously linked with the defender.

According to WhoScored, Aarons has made the third-highest number of dribbles per game of any Norwich player in the Premier League this season, while the website also cites the 20-year-old’s strengths lie in his dribbling and making key passes, as is Spurs right-back Aurier

As a result of these similarities with their current right-back, it may be understandable why Tottenham might be ‘keen on’ adding the England U21 international to their squad. However, Ehantharajah claimed that Spurs may target Aarons to “replace” Aurier and considering that the 20-year-old Englishman is only the 10th-highest-rated player, in a Norwich side that have struggled in the Premier League this term and Aurier is currently Spurs’ third-highest-rated player, it could be debatable as to whether or not Aarons is good enough to take Aurier’s place if he does join the Lilywhites.
