In recent comments made during a discussion on The Athletic, Manchester City correspondent Sam Lee revealed the reported new salary of Leroy Sane, following his move to Bayern Munich.

On Tuesday evening, the transfer saga of Leroy Sane finally reached a conclusion, with the player making the switch from Manchester to Munich for a fee of €49 million (£44.4 million) up-front and €11 million (£10 million) in add-ons – totalling roughly £54.4 million.

Man City fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Yaya Toure quiz. We'll start you off with an easy one... Who did Yaya Toure sign for City from back in 2010?

It had been no secret that the German wanted to leave the club, with Pep Guardiola previously confirming that Sane had indeed informed him of his desire to depart this summer.

Following the move, one of a number of potential reasons given for Sane’s departure from City was the quite staggering difference in the salary he is reported to earn at Bayern and the figure in the contract that Manchester City had offered the 24-year-old.

In comments made on The Athletic, Sam Lee had this to say on the player’s wages:

“The figure given for his wages (which Bayern may dispute, you never know) is €22 million (£20 million) per year, which is €420k (£381k) ish per week. I don’t know what City offered but it would’ve been tops £180k per week I would guess, maybe a tiny little extra.”

TIF Thoughts…

As Lee states, the figure of Sane’s wage at the German giants may well be disputed by the club.

Having said this, if €420k (£381k) is indeed the ballpark figure, considering the fact that Bayern were willing to offer more than double what Lee believes City offered the winger, it is no wonder why Sane was so eager for a move to the club this summer.
