Following Liverpool’s 5-3 win against Chelsea on Wednesday evening, on a night which saw the Reds lift the Premier League trophy at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp has been singing the praises of young Harvey Elliott.

The German manager was interviewed by Sky Sports following the win against Frank Lampard’s side on Wednesday night and he spoke highly of Elliott. Liverpool signed the winger from Fulham last summer and in his first season with the Merseyside club, the 17-year-old has made eight appearances for the senior side.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

Here’s what Klopp had to say about the teenager following the game:

“It’s all about staying on track, staying greedy, having a high level in training. That’s why all the kids deserve a medal. I had a talk this week with Harvey Elliott. He [has] had 90 sessions with us, 85 of these sessions were outstanding, he kept the level high, like all the others. That’s why we play like we play – because we train like we train.”

TIF Thoughts…

Elliott has clearly impressed Klopp with his work rate in his first year with the Merseyside club. Considering he is so young, it is impressive that he has featured as many as eight times for the Premier League winners, and he will no doubt be hoping to have even more of an impact next season.

Can Elliott be a regular in the first-team next season?

Yes

No

No

With fellow winger Xherdan Shaqiri linked with a move away from the Reds, perhaps we could see Elliott trusted to step up as his replacement. If he continues to impress in training, then there is perhaps no reason why he can’t establish himself as a valued part of the first-team squad.
