Liverpool journalist Matt Addison has made a claim on Manchester City winger Leroy Sane.

This comes after Addison recently made an appearance on the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red podcast to preview the Reds’ upcoming Premier League clash against Pep Guardiola’s side.

After the news broke confirming that City have agreed a deal to sell Sane to Bayern Munich, Addison shared his views on this latest move and how it will impact Liverpool.

He said: “Looking at it from Liverpool’s perspective, I suppose the Reds will be quite glad to see the back of him because he’s tormented Trent Alexander-Arnold and players like that during certain matches.

“I remember during the Champions League game and I think Liverpool won 3-0 at Anfield but you came away thinking, ‘wow’, he’s one of those players, I suppose a bit like a [Mohamed] Salah or a [Sadio] Mane where he’s just so quick and defenders can’t really do too much about him other than do their best to put them off and put their body in the way.

“Once he’s got the ball you’re just not going to get the ball off him so for Liverpool, I suppose it’s a good thing but I suppose it’s slightly disappointing for City and the Premier League that they lose a player who’s just about to enter his peak really for a cut-price fee and it looks like Leroy Sane is heading to Bayern Munich.”

The 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £72 million according to Transfermarkt, first signed for the Manchester club back in 2016 from Schalke for a fee of £46.8 million (per Transfermarkt).

Since then, the winger has gone on to make 135 appearances for City in which he has managed to score 39 goals and provide 45 assists along the way, whilst also winning a handful of domestic trophies.

TIF Thoughts…

The fact that Addison thinks Sane’s impending departure from City will be a boost for Liverpool just goes to show how much he recognises the German attacker’s talents and abilities.
