Liverpool journalist Paul Machin has been singing the praises of Reds midfielder Naby Keita.
This comes after Machin recently hosted an episode of The Redmen TV Podcast to talk about Liverpool’s thrilling 5-3 win over Chelsea on Wednesday.
On the topic of Keita, Machin shared his thoughts on the midfield man and how he has fared since the league restarted back in June.
He said: “I think [Naby] Keita has been the star of the restart for us, to be perfectly honest. I think for him, smacking that goal in and really kicking the game off would do him no end of good. [Jurgen] Klopp was effusive in his praise for him at the end of the game. He’s only really played at the end of the season and what a spell he’s had.”
Keita scored the first goal of the game at Anfield against Frank Lampard’s side with a wonderful strike in the first half.
The 25-year-old’s performance in the game earned him a match rating of 7.84/10, making him Liverpool’s third highest-rated performer on the day (per WhoScored).
Keita’s performances in the 17 Premier League appearances he has made for Jurgen Klopp’s side so far this season has earned him a season rating of 6.96/10, making him their 10th highest-rated player for this campaign.

It’s nice to hear Machin sharing his praise for Keita claiming that he has been Liverpool’s best performer since the league restarted.
If Keita can put in another good performance in Liverpool’s final league match of the season against Newcastle United on Sunday, then he will be able to end the season on a high point after injuries had disrupted the first half of the campaign for the midfielder.
