During the episode, Carragher shared his views on the right-back and how he has developed as a player.

He said: “He reminds me a little bit of Stevie Gerrard in some ways, and yes, they’re good players at the academy but no one can ever know for certain going into a first-team what could happen. Now Stevie was a great player as a kid. But no one said he was going to be the best midfielder in the world. You know, Trent may be on his way or may even be right now one of the best right-backs in the world. No one would have said that when he was in the academy 15 or 16 [years old], they’d have known they’ve got a special player. But sometimes when you go into the first-team, people just completely take off. And just before they know it, they’re one of the top players in the team and that’s what’s happened to Trent.

“But he’s just completely taken off where he is the most creative player. He is the most creative player in the best team in Europe and he’s a 20, 21-year-old lad from Liverpool playing at right-back you know and that just shows you what he’s actually done to the position.”

For the Liverpool first-team, Alexander-Arnold has made a total of 131 appearances in which he has managed to score seven goals and provide 34 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

This season has seen the Englishman, who is currently valued at £89.1 million according to Transfermarkt, make a total of 46 appearances for the Reds across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing 14 assists.

TIF Thoughts…

Given how many assists Alexander-Arnold has managed to provide for his Liverpool teammates since making his debut for the side back in October 2016, it’s understandable why Carragher has labelled the full-back at their most creative player.

The hope for Alexander-Arnold and everyone at Liverpool now will be that he can continue his progression at the Merseyside club and keep creating goalscoring chances for his teammates.
