2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

After it was recently reported that City have had their two-year ban from European football overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after they had cleared the club of ‘disguising equity funds as sponsorship contributions’, Sutton shared his thoughts on the ruling, with CAS insisting it would publish more detailed reasoning for its decision in the coming days.

He said: “What would be really interesting is if there is a much deeper statement that gets released about exactly what was uncovered, exactly what they did, and there’s more details to come out about it because I feel like at the moment, they’ve won their appeal, and the line has been drawn.

“I’d like to know a bit more. I’d like to know if there’s grey areas there, because I just feel like, going forward, what are we saying to the other clubs? They brought in the [Financial] Fair Play, as the name suggests, for fair play across the board and if that’s not the case, there’s serious questions to ask and serious problems going forward.

“Make no mistake about it, Man City now will blow everyone out of the water again going forward, whether it’ll be this summer or whether it’ll be next summer. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make some huge bids this summer because there’s not many teams that will be and they’ve got all the power and they’ve got all that money back. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they start putting in some silly bids again. And I don’t know where that ends.”

TIF Thoughts…

Given the fact that Liverpool have beaten Manchester City to the Premier League title this season by quite a significant points margin, Pep Guardiola’s side would undoubtedly be thinking that they need to improve next season to try and take the title away from Liverpool.

In that case, the club may well feel the splash out in the upcoming summer transfer window to try and bring in some quality players that could help them do that.

In regards to their verdict from CAS, if they had done anything wrong that went against the European financial regulations, then surely their Champions League ban would have stood instead of being overturned?
