2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

During the episode, Maguire shared his views on how he sees the Reds conducting themselves during the summer window.

He said: “I think Liverpool will be looking at exit routes as well as signings, so a lot will depend [on if] the club in negotiation for some of their fringe players to go, which would free up wages, which would allow them to sign [players]. It’s a case of wait and see.

“So it could be that [Jurgen Klopp is] waiting for the mists to clear a little bit. And also, if he does manage to sell two or three players, then he’ll be in a position to be able to go into the transfer market at a higher level. And it could be that he’s got his eyes on two players, and he wants to make sure that he does have the budget for those rather than compromise and make an early signing at a lower fee.”

This season has seen Jurgen Klopp’s side win the Premier League title by a big margin over second-place Manchester City. With just two league games left to play this season, Liverpool currently sit at the top of the table on 93 points, winning 30 out of a possible 36 matches, drawing three and losing three along the way (per Sky Sports).

Liverpool’s last incoming transfer saw them spend £7.65 million on Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg in the previous January transfer window.

TIF Thoughts…

It appears that Maguire thinks that Liverpool will have to be careful with their finances during this upcoming transfer window.

Considering how the global pandemic has impacted the Premier League financially and how impressive Liverpool have been in the top-flight this season, maybe they don’t necessarily need to make any big signings this summer.
