Fans of Newcastle United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays comments from Lee Charnley following FUN88 renewing its sponsorship deal with the Magpies.
Lee Charnley, Newcastle United’s managing director, announced on Monday that the club were ‘delighted FUN88 has renewed its relationship with Newcastle United and committed its support to the club over a number of years to come’.
According to reports, the length of the deal has not been confirmed, other than stating that it is ‘long-term’.
In reaction to the news, which was relayed on Twitter by NUFC 360, fans of the club were left furious, as they believe it is not a good sign for the club’s ongoing takeover deal.
Heart sank when I seen this no matter what anyone says it's bad news ?

Stinks of Ashley staying to me.

Takeover gone

As can be seen from their comments, these Newcastle fans clearly feel that Charnley’s comments are not good news for their proposed takeover.
Do you believe FUN88's sponsorship has anything to do with the takeover?
No, completely unrelated
Yes, doesn't bode well
It has to be said, the deal would seem to cast doubt on any potential takeover, as one would assume that this maintaining of the status quo is not a sign of impending change.
Well we will have Mike Ashley Lee Charnley and Steve Bruce next season

Hard to imagine this level of charades if Charnley & Co. haven’t been given indication that the takeover is off.

Just want Charnley and Ashley out?

With the takeover deal still awaiting Premier League approval, which has been the situation for over three months now, it would seem that many of these Newcastle fans have taken the news that the club’s current regime has agreed a new long-term sponsorship deal to be grave news for the potential Saudi-backed takeover, and that the likes of Charnley and owner Mike Ashley could remain at the club longer than anticipated.
