At 08:16 on 21st July, Sky Italia reported via their transfer-focused live blog that Leicester City seem ‘ready to launch’ an offer for 22-year-old Celtic centre-back and alleged AC Milan target, Kristoffer Ajer.

Earlier this month, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that Ralf Rangnick, who is set to take charge of I Rossoneri for the 2020/21 campaign, ‘really likes’ the Celtic centre-back, however, the reporter also stated that Milan ‘will have to compete’ with some Premier League clubs to secure the Norwegian’s signature.

To kick off this 1990s Premier League quiz, which season was the Premier League's inaugural campaign?

One of those Premier League clubs that Milan may have to compete with in order to sign Ajer, might be Leicester City, as the Foxes have been linked with a move for the defender by Sky Italia, who have declared that Milan ‘must beware of the competition’ from the East Midlands club.

Would Ajer be a good signing for Leicester City?

TIF Thoughts…

It might not come as a big surprise if Leicester City do enter the market for a new central defender this summer. According to Transfermarkt, the Foxes have got four natural centre-backs at present, one of whom is 36-year-old Wes Morgan, who has started just four league games for the club this season and whose age may make him difficult to rely on for Leicester City and one of whom is Ryan Bennett, whose loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers is set to expire at the end of this month

With that in mind, it may be fair to say that the Foxes could use some defensive reinforcements at present and knowing that Ajer, who is now valued at £3.6 million (as per Transfermarkt), played under current Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers at Celtic, perhaps the Norwegian defender and the Northern Irishman would be keen on linking back up at the King Power Stadium.
