The Athletic’s Patrick Boyland has been discussing if Everton would attempt to sign Ibrahim Sangare from French outfit Toulouse.

It was reported in May that the Toffees had ‘expressed an interest’ in securing the services of the Ivorian midfielder (per Express).

Along with Carlo Ancelotti’s outfit, though, it was also suggested by the same report that Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United were queuing up for the 22-year-old’s signature.

So, in the latest episode of The Athletic’s Gwlad Tidings podcast, Boyland discussed if the Merseyside outfit would actually try to sign the midfielder.

To start this quiz on Richarlison with an easy one, how much did the Toffees pay to secure the Brazilian's services including potential future fees?

He said: “We’ve written a little bit recently about Ibrahim Sangare from Toulouse, who obviously, lots of people are interested in, and lots of people we speak to, supporters that is, tell us they’d like to see Everton in for him.

“I think, certainly from what I’ve been told when I’ve asked people about him who know what’s going on, they’ve kind of said, ‘Yes, he’s a good player. Yes, he’s got things going for him, but there are some rough edges.’

“Maybe in terms of the technical abilities here and there, that would make it a surprise if Everton went for him.

“I think that’s why they’ve looked at somebody that they trust, I use the word risk-averse. They look at somebody that they’ve seen in the Premier League in [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg and have sensed an opportunity.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Boyland had to say, it seems that the Toffees would rather try and sign a player who is proven in the Premier League as opposed to Sangare.

Would you want the Toffees to try and sign Ibrahim Sangare from Toulouse?

No, he's not good enough

No, he's not good enough

Yes, he's a good player

Yes, he's a good player

With Sangare having delivered a 6.77/10 average rating during the 2019/20 Ligue 1 season (per WhoScored) and Hojbjerg having delivered a 6.83/10 rating in the Premier League (per WhoScored), that would suggest that the Toffees are chasing the right option.
