This comes after the journalist made an appearance on Holtecast, a Villa-themed podcast to look back over the Birmingham club’s 1-0 win over Arsenal in midweek.

Who scored Villa's goal in their 1-0 win against Stoke City on the opening day of the 2014/15 Premier League season?

On the topic of Konsa, who played in defence for Villa against Mikel Arteta’s team, Dunsworth shared his thoughts on the Englishman.

He said: “I like that he’s a confident guy; since he’s gone in centre-half, he’s much more fluid in there, he’s very well able to read [the] play.

“He’s been going through players for headers from corners and he’s just been very, very solid and very mobile. He reminds me a bit, and I’m not going to say he is, but he reminds me a bit of Joe Gomez – the way that he can be mobile there in that backline; and when you play him alongside [Tyrone] Mings, Mings looks a lot more sturdy as well, having that right-left tandem there.”

The 22-year-old signed to Villa back in the previous summer transfer window from Championship side Brentford for a fee of £11.97 million.

In his debut season at Villa Park, Konsa has gone on to make 30 appearances across all competitions, managing to score two goals and provide two assists as well (per Transfermarkt).

His latest performance for Villa in the win against Arsenal earned him a match rating of 7.32/10, making him the joint fourth-highest rated player for Villa alongside his fellow defender Tyrone Mings (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

It’s great to see Konsa putting in a strong performance against Arsenal and managing to help them keep a clean sheet in the process.

Everyone at the club will now be hoping that Konsa and the rest of the defensive line can put in a similar performance in their final game of the season against West Ham United so that they can get another positive result and avoid the drop back to the Championship.
