Everton’s former director of communications Alan Myers has recently aired his concern for the direction which the club is heading.

Myers spent just seven months in that role for the club, having resigned from his position in February 2014 after taking the job on in the previous summer (per Liverpool Echo).

The now-sport news editor at Sky had previously spent a longer period of time in a role with the club, though, having been the head of media at Goodison Park for over five years (per Alan Myers).

When making an appearance in the latest episode of the All Together Now podcast, Myers aired some concerns about the club which are worrying him.

He said: “I’ll be honest with you, it worries me. I can be honest and say that I’m worried about where we go because I don’t see a direction.

“As much as I think [Carlo] Ancelotti is a great manager and all the rest of it, one person cannot make it happen, if you know what I mean. I think he’s the man to do it if he’s given the right environment, but we’ve got to sort [things] out.

“People say, ‘Get rid of him, get rid of him, get rid of him’ [about players]. It’s just not that simple in football, it just doesn’t happen like that and you can’t just get rid of people. So, you’ve got to manage it.

“It’s a really, really difficult situation to manage. At the same time these days, you’ve got to keep winning, because we can’t accept – I think this is our lowest finish for some time.”

TIF Thoughts…

Seemingly, Myers is worried about the club after they fell to three defeats and claimed just one victory in their final six league games of the season.

In fact, Everton’s finishing position in the Premier League this season is the worst that they have achieved since the 2003/04 season when they finished 17th (per Transfermarkt).

So, perhaps Myers’ concerns about the direction that the club is heading in are justified.
