According to recent reports, Crystal Palace are plotting a summer move for Celtic forward, Odsonne Edouard – with Leeds United and Leicester City also keen on the striker.

The reports in The Scottish Sun state that Palace are ‘long-term admirers’ of the French forward, with scouts of the south London club watching him ‘throughout last season’.

The report goes on to claim that although Celtic have stated the striker is not for sale this summer, it is believed that an offer of around £25 million for the £12.15 million-rated 22-year-old would be enough to open negotiations.

The report also states that Palace are not alone in their interest of Edouard, with former Celtic and now Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers is ‘keeping tabs’ on the striker, while Championship table-toppers Leeds United are also said to be keen on the frontman.

And, it is not difficult to see why there is a host of interest in the forward, as, this season, he has scored a remarkable 27 goals and has provided 19 assists over his 45 appearances in all competitions, playing a huge part in the Hoops securing their ninth consecutive Scottish Premiership title – as well as being voted Scottish Football Writers’ and Celtic Player of the Year for 2020.

TIF Thoughts…

With Roy Hodgson having just Christian Benteke and Jordan Ayew to choose from as recognised strikers in his first-team squad (with Connor Wickham currently out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday) – who have scored one and nine Premier League goals respectively this season – it would certainly seem as if Palace could use an injection of goals this summer.

As such, although they would likely face stiff competition for Edouard from the likes of Leicester City – who are currently in the top four of the Premier League – and Leeds United – who have impressed under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa – we would suggest that Palace should do everything they can to land the Frenchman this summer.
