Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

Crossman left most of the talking to the guests, but he did provide an interesting snippet on Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium’s plans.

He claimed that he had been speaking to someone who has been approached for the role of director of football by Staveley’s group should their deal be approved by the Premier League.

Here is what he had to say about this idea:

“I spoke to somebody the other day who told me that Newcastle’s prospective new owners had approached them about potentially being a director of football there.

“So, I think if the Saudi Arabian group take over the club, I suspect the answer is yes; they’ll go for a director of football.”

Crossman does not mention who it was he spoke to about the role of director of football at Newcastle, but they have been linked with the likes of Antero Henrique and Luis Campos, so it certainly seems possible that the Toon may secure a director of football in the future.

Do you think the potential new owners will appoint a director of football?

TIF Thoughts…

The deal for Staveley’s consortium to take Newcastle from Mike Ashley has been agreed since April, but they are still waiting for approval from the Premier League.

However, it appears to be the case that if they get that approval, they are ready to appoint a director of football.

So, it will be interesting to see if the takeover is approved and, if it is, who they will select in order to fulfil such a role.
