Aston Villa journalist Dan Bardell has shared his thoughts on Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz and his future at Villa Park.
This comes after Bardell recently made an appearance on The Villa View to discuss a range of topics concerning the Birmingham club.
On the subject of Luiz and his future at the club, Bardell made a big claim on the matter amid concerns Manchester City could activate their buy-back clause on the Brazilian.
He said: “The Douglas Luiz thing now to me seems like such a simple transaction for Man City, that they can just buy him back for £25 million or whatever the release clause is. It’s a simple bit of business, even if they think he’s not good enough for them, they can buy him back and sell him on, buy him for £25 million and maybe sell him to someone like Wolves for £35 million.”
Luiz signed to the Villans in the previous summer transfer window from Manchester City for a fee of £15.12 million.
In his debut season at Villa, Luiz, who is currently valued at £16.2 million, made a total of 42 appearances for the club across all competitions in which he managed to score three goals and provide two assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

Back in 2018, it was reported that City manager Pep Guardiola was “sad and disappointed” that Luiz was unable to get a work permit and play at the Manchester club for the 2018/19 season, which just goes to show how much Guardiola admires the Brazilian.

The fact that Bardell thinks City would be looking to buy Luiz back from Villa this summer and keep him or sell him on for a bigger profit, just goes to show how impressed Bardell has been with the midfielder this season.
With Villa having secured their place in the Premier League next season, it will be interesting to see what happens with Luiz this summer.
