Laurens discussed other elements of the game but spent a bit of time on the German’s performance and was rather critical of Mustafi.

Here is what he had to say about the 28-year-old following the game:

“Today, [Sead] Kolasinac and Mustafi from start to finish, not just the poor pass from Kolasinac on the first goal like Craig [Burley] explained, but Mustafi all game long was very, very poor.

This opened up the way for Craig Burley to have a go at Mustafi, and here is what he said about the German.

“We’re talking about a German international here, not a 19-year-old kid who’s still learning the game, but a guy who’s been there inside the rope for a long, long time.

“The amount of decisions he makes poorly in a 90 minutes is scary.”

It seems as if both Burley and Laurens were not impressed by Mustafi.

TIF Thoughts…

The German has been in decent form since the restart as he has earned ratings of 7.05 and 7.07 for his displays against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton & Hove Albion, and on Sunday, he actually turned in his best performance since the restart, according to WhoScored, as he earned a rating of 7.27.

Mustafi has made quite a few high-profile mistakes since he has been at the Emirates, and though he didn’t make an error for either goal and posted a healthy-looking match rating, it is clear that both Burley and Laurens are not the biggest fans of the German.

The Gunners will have William Saliba to include in their squad next season, so it will be interesting to see what happens to Mustafi.
