Football journalist Dan Potts has made a big claim on Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette and his future at the north London club.

This comes after Potts made an appearance on Arsenal-themed podcast The Chronicles of a Gooner to reflect on Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Norwich City on Wednesday.

On the topic of the French striker, Potts shared his thoughts on what the future holds for him at Arsenal.

He said: “I think he’s off in the summer if I’m honest – the last few games I’ve seen him, I haven’t been impressed at all. He’s looking to me like he’s a little bit uninterested of late, which is a strange one because I think if [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang is speaking positively about staying, you’d think that Lacazette would want to as well, they’re so close, they look, off the field, to be really, really close. So it’s a strange one. I personally wouldn’t mind keeping them both.

“It might be an unpopular opinion because some people didn’t like him; I actually preferred Olivier Giroud to Lacazette. I think that what Lacazette does in his hold up play, Giroud could do better. I think what Lacazette can do with his flick-ons, Giroud can do better. So for me, and it is no coincidence that [Didier] Deschamps has been picking Giroud over Lacazette for many seasons now – because of that reason.

“I’m not a Lacazette fan in terms of his goalscoring record. For a £50m or £55m striker, I think we’d be lucky to take £35m for him if we’re going to look at swapping him or selling him at the moment, because he’s just not playing well enough.”

Would you keep or sell Lacazette this summer?

So far this season, the 29-year-old has made a total of 31 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions, in which he has managed to score nine goals and provide four assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

Lacazette’s performances in the 24 Premier League appearances he’s made for Mikel Arteta’s side so far this season have earned him a season rating of 6.87/10, making him Arsenal’s eighth-highest-rated player for this campaign (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

Despite not being a regular starter for Arsenal, it seems that Lacazette has performed fairly well when called upon this season.

Whether or not he will leave the club this summer is still unknown.
