Nice easy one to start off with, from which club did Leeds sign Hernandez?

Speaking before Poveda’s performance in the season finale against Charlton Athletic, host of the podcast Gary Devonport was really impressed by what he saw from the England Under-20 international in the weekend’s victory at Derby County as he heaped praise on the player during this week’s edition of the show.

The 20-year-old played 77 minutes in Leeds’ victory at Pride Park in what was just his third appearance for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the league since signing from Manchester City on a free transfer back in January.

He said: “He looked incredibly positive and looked like he [was] a real pest to the left full-back at Derby. I was really impressed with him, he looked positive and he looked pretty strong as well. He’s got a weird ability to be able to turn on like a five pence piece and disappear away from people. I was really excited to see him again.”

Are you excited by what Poveda can bring to the team in the future?

TIF Thoughts…

Poveda has previously spent time with the youth setups at Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona and Brentford and made one appearance for the Manchester City Under-23s earlier this season in an EFL Trophy game versus Shrewsbury.

His performance rating during the recent fixture versus Derby according to WhoScored.com was 6.52/10, which could suggest that perhaps the podcaster’s opinion of it may have been slightly inflated, though he is clearly a player who excites him.

Although we have seen very little of him, judging by the clubs with which he has been associated in the past, it is difficult to argue against Devonport’s positive assessment, particularly at this early stage of Poveda’s senior career.
