Nice easy one to start off with, from which club did Leeds sign Hernandez?

Hay discussed various Leeds-related topics but spent quite a bit of time on Bielsa’s future and how he sees contract talks going.

This is what The Athletic reporter said about Bielsa and his talks over his future:

“That [contract talks] is going to have come around quite quickly now, and I think once that is done, you will start to see some pretty quick movement in the transfer market as well, but that is undoubtedly priority one at the moment.”

Hay was then asked if he could see Bielsa leaving and how contract talks could go after guiding the Whites back to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.

“Bielsa always has expectations, he always wants to know the fine details of what’s happening, he always wants to know to what extent he’s going to be supported in the things that he’s asking the club to do.

“So, it will be complex, because it’s always complex with Bielsa.”

However, he then confirmed that despite him not expecting talks to be easy, he does not think that Bielsa will leave Elland Road.

“I just don’t see it happening; I couldn’t understand where that would come from in him – not wanting to go into the Premier League and have a crack, now”

So, it seems as if Hay thinks that talks over the Argentine’s new deal may not exactly be swift, but in the end, Bielsa will stay at Elland Road.

Do you think Bielsa will sign a new contract?

Yes, I am not worried about that

Yes, I am not worried about that

No, he could leave

No, he could leave

TIF Thoughts…

Bielsa could have left Leeds last season after they were knocked out of the Championship play-off semi-final by Derby County, but he stayed to lead the Whites to promotion, finishing 10 points clear of second in the end.

So, he did a fantastic job, and we think it would be great to see Bielsa in the Premier League with Leeds.
