Nigel Martyn has been on a recent episode of BBC’s Football Daily podcast to discuss Leeds United’s promotion back to the Premier League.

Nice easy one to start off with, from which club did Leeds sign Hernandez?

Martyn, who was at Elland Road from 1996 to 2003, spoke about many Leeds-related topics and offered a little bit of insight into what the Whites might have planned for the transfer window.

This is what he had to say following the Whites’ return to the top flight:

“It’s a cliché, but the word has to be squad strengthening in certain areas, I would imagine.

“You can’t just go up there as a load of guys that haven’t really got a lot of experience, so maybe [they need] some of the experienced players to help them along the way.

“I think the manager there will largely stick with the squad he’s got, and hopefully, they produce [for] the whole of next season.”

It seems as if Martyn believes that the Whites will need some additions, but he is expecting Marcelo Bielsa to stick with largely the same squad.

Do you agree with Martyn?

Yes, these lads deserve a chance in the Premier League

TIF Thoughts…

Leeds’ promotion was confirmed after Huddersfield Town beat West Bromwich Albion on Friday, while on Saturday, the Whites were confirmed as champions after Stoke City beat Brentford.

The Whites then topped off a perfect weekend by beating Derby County 3-1 to gain revenge on them for their play-off semi-final defeat last year.

However, now the hard work begins, and following the confirmation that Jack Harrison will be staying at Elland Road on loan for another season, Martyn might be right that Bielsa will largely keep the same squad.

Talks are also set to begin to keep the Argentine himself at the club as the Whites prepare for a return to the top flight.

It will be intriguing to see if Martyn is right about the Whites’ transfer business in the coming weeks and months.
