Derby County have been handed an injury boost as they look to force their way into the playoff positions. Phillip Cocu’s side is in fine form, winning all of their last five Championship fixtures.

The Rams boss has confirmed that Jack Marriott is currently working with the club’s physiotherapist in order to rehabilitate himself after having an operation to treat a groin problem.

Cocu said: “He is doing his individual rehabilitation programme with the physio. He feels good, the pain he had has gone, so it was a successful operation.

“He is just building up the loads step by step on the individual sessions.”

We will look at Marcelo Bielsa to kick off this quiz on the Championship's managers, which of these national teams has the Leeds United boss managed?

“So it is hard to say when he will join part of the team sessions, it depends on how things will go in the next week.

“I think he could be [available again this season] if everything goes smooth and without setbacks, then it could be possible he still would be available maybe for the last few games of the season.

“Let’s hope so because he had to wait quite some time.”

Marriott made 29 appearances for Derby County in the Championship this season prior to suffering his injury. The striker contributed two goals and two assists in those games and according to WhoScored, his average performance rating this season currently stands at 6.27/10.

TIF Thoughts…

Cocu did specify that if the player is going to be available again between now and the end of the current campaign it will likely be for the last few games.

Despite what we believe to be a somewhat underwhelming performance rating for the 25-year-old, his return would provide the Dutch coach with an additional option as they look to creep into the playoffs in the final weeks of the season.
