Fans of Sheffield Wednesday have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports regarding League One strikers who could potentially help improve the side ahead of next season.
The story in Yorkshire Live comments on five potential League One transfer targets who could help improve Wednesday’s frontline next season, as four of the club’s current strikers – Fernando Forestieri, Sam Winnall, Steven Fletcher and Atdhe Nuhiu – are all out of contract this summer.
The list includes Peterborough United’s Ivan Toney, Blackpool’s Armand Gnanduillet, Fleetwood Town’s Paddy Madden, Bristol Rovers’ Jonson Clarke-Harris and Oxford United’s Matty Taylor (who had spent the 2019/20 season on loan from Bristol City).
In reaction to the reports, which were relayed by SWFC Live on Twitter, fans of the club flocked to have their say on the matter, with many singling out Toney as their favourite.
we'd do well to get Toney ??

Would definitely take Toney if it wasn’t for the Peterborough chairman’s delusional valuations of his players

I’d take toney all day long..

It is not surprising to see that many of these Wednesday fans would like their club to make a move for Toney, as the forward has scored a remarkable 24 League One goals over his 32 appearances in the competition so far this season, in addition to a further two in the FA Cup.
Would you like to see Wednesday sign Toney this summer?
Yes
No
However, many of the fans who replied to the post seemed to think that Toney is the only desirable option out of the five strikers suggested by Yorkshire Live, with some fans claiming that the other four players were shocking, while others stated that they would be extremely worried if their club signed any of the players other than Toney.
I would buy toney out of all that…All rest are absolutely shocking

Meanwhile, some Wednesday fans claimed that Toney was out of the club’s price range.
Peterborough wanted £13mill for Toney in Jan. Think you can draw a line through that one for a start ??????

4 are not championship standard and Toney way out of our price range.

As such, it would seem that many of the Wednesday fans would love to see their club make a move for Toney this summer, however, a few appear to be of the belief that the player, who is currently valued at £360k, would be too expensive for the club to purchase.
