Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a report on their former right-back Kieran Trippier after he spoke about his time with the North London club.
The England international spoke (via the Daily Mirror) about his 2018/19 season with the Lilywhites before joining Atletico Madrid last summer. He suggests that he was struggling with groin and pelvic problems for months, but when he requested to have surgery, the North London club disagreed with the timing.
He goes on to suggest (per the Mirror): “I certainly feel I am a better player than I was last season at Tottenham.
“Last season was a difficult moment because I was struggling with injuries. It is not an excuse because I was not hiding about it. But I struggled for months with my groin and pelvis and I eventually had surgery just after the winter break in Spain in January.”
Spurs signed the right-back from Burnley in 2015 and he went on to make 114 appearances for the North London club; contributing two goals and 24 assists (per Transfermarkt). Despite WhoScored suggesting that his final season with Spurs was a strong one; as he averaged a 7.10 rating in England’s top-flight, he completed a move to Atletico Madrid last summer and from his quotes in this report, he feels that he wasn’t anywhere near his best in his final season in the Premier League.

So it was his injuries made him consistently go missing at the back post, duck under diagonal balls and give the ball away with poor lateral passes throughout the season? Ok Kieran ok

Spurs fans were quick to suggest that Trippier needs to focus on his current club, rather than talking about his time with the Lilywhites.
He talks more about Spurs than his current club. Thanks for the handful of crosses Trip now pipe down

He just needs to shut up now, this is the second time hes went on about his issues last season .

Other fans commented that they believe injuries were not an excuse for what they believed to be a poor run of form from the Englishman.
Why does he keep piping up? This guy lost us points with his terrible form

Players down tools when they want to move and a club wants to hold onto them, yet when they think they may be injured or need surgery they just carry on playing. Give me a break.

Overall, it seems as if these Spurs fans are not impressed with the quotes from Trippier and feel he should keep his thoughts on Tottenham to himself in the future.
