Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a report on their former right-back Kieran Trippier after he spoke about his time with the North London club.

The England international spoke (via the Daily Mirror) about his 2018/19 season with the Lilywhites before joining Atletico Madrid last summer. He suggests that he was struggling with groin and pelvic problems for months, but when he requested to have surgery, the North London club disagreed with the timing.

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

He goes on to suggest (per the Mirror): “I certainly feel I am a better player than I was last season at Tottenham.

“Last season was a difficult moment because I was struggling with injuries. It is not an excuse because I was not hiding about it. But I struggled for months with my groin and pelvis and I eventually had surgery just after the winter break in Spain in January.”

Spurs signed the right-back from Burnley in 2015 and he went on to make 114 appearances for the North London club; contributing two goals and 24 assists (per Transfermarkt). Despite WhoScored suggesting that his final season with Spurs was a strong one; as he averaged a 7.10 rating in England’s top-flight, he completed a move to Atletico Madrid last summer and from his quotes in this report, he feels that he wasn’t anywhere near his best in his final season in the Premier League.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the quotes from Trippier, which were shared by The Spurs Web on Twitter, via a report from the Evening Standard, can be seen in the tweets below.

Spurs fans were quick to suggest that Trippier needs to focus on his current club, rather than talking about his time with the Lilywhites.

Other fans commented that they believe injuries were not an excuse for what they believed to be a poor run of form from the Englishman.

Overall, it seems as if these Spurs fans are not impressed with the quotes from Trippier and feel he should keep his thoughts on Tottenham to himself in the future.
