Some Celtic fans have been talking about the latest news update linking them with a move to sign Lyndon Dykes recently.

The Daily Mail reports that the Hoops are showing interest in signing the Livingston man. Apart from Celtic, Championship clubs such as Stoke City, Middlesbrough, Millwall, Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers and Barnsley are also interested in the player and have made enquiries for him.

The report also claims that Livingston want a fee of £2 million to part ways with their striker. The Daily Record relayed this news about Dykes on Twitter.

It attracted the attention of many Celtic fans and they made their negative opinions known.

Would signing Dykes make sense for Celtic?

There's no point in signing him

Yeah, sign him up!

Yeah, sign him up!

The 2019/20 season has seen Dykes make 33 appearances in all competitions for Livingston, playing a direct part in as many as 22 goals (12 goals, 10 assists). In the Premiership alone, the Australia-born striker scored nine goals and racked up eight assists (via Transfermarkt).

The report from the Daily Mail also mentions interest from Celtic’s Old Firm rivals. Some Celtic fans said the Hoops should leave the Gers to sign Dykes.

These Celtic fans don’t seem too pleased by the club’s links with Dykes, despite the fact that he has a pretty healthy goal contribution record.

With Neil Lennon having confirmed that the club is in talks to hand Odsonne Edouard a new contract, the need for a striker may have to take a backseat. The club would have plenty of options, including Edouard, Leigh Griffiths and Patryk Klimala – so signing a striker like Dykes may not make too much sense.
