Fans of Celtic have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Liverpool defender Andy Robertson responds to a tweet from the official Celtic Twitter account.

Following Manchester City’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea on Thursday evening, Liverpool ended a 30-year wait to be crowned as champions of England.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

Following the confirmation of the Merseyside club as Premier League winners, the official Celtic Twitter account sent a message of congratulations to Liverpool’s Scottish left-back and their former player, Virgil van Dijk, as well as everyone else at Liverpool Football Club.

After Robertson quote-tweeted this post, adding a green love heart in response, fans of Celtic flocked to have their say, with many sending their own messages of congratulations, while others – somewhat cheekily – called for the £57.6m-rated player to make a move to the Scottish champions.

While Robertson has never actually played for Celtic professionally (he played for the club’s academy as a child), he is very much a self-confessed fan of the Hoops, even suggesting that he would be open to a move to Parkhead if he doesn’t retire at Liverpool.

If this move were to ever materialise, it would be a great coup for Celtic, as the left-back has been influential not only to Liverpool’s Premier League triumph – starting 90% of the club’s league games and playing 91% of minutes available, scoring one goal and providing eight assists – but also in last season’s Champions League success, in which he featured in all but one game during the Merseyside club’s European campaign, providing two assists.

Will Andy Robertson ever return to Parkhead?

Absolutely!

Absolutely!

However, for now, the 26-year-old remains a Liverpool player, with many more Celtic fans sending their well wishes to the Scotsman.

It could certainly be said, that despite the rather strange circumstances that have caused a significant amount of disruption to the footballing world, that 2020 has been a good year for Robertson, as the team he supports were crowned champions of Scotland for the ninth time in a row, while the team that he plays for are the champions of England.
