Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Fraser Forster and Celtic are now set to face competition for the goalkeeper.

Football Insider has recently reported that Chelsea are ‘keeping tabs’ on Forster. The report claims that the Blues are ‘assessing’ the 32-year-old goalkeeper. They also say that the Stamford Bridge-based club is just one of the clubs interested in Forster currently.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also reportedly wants Forster as a replacement for back-up goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. It is said that the Gunners are ready to provide competition to the Blues in the race for the Celtic man.

This comes after Celtic are said to be ‘working on a deal’ to keep Forster at the club for at least another season. The Daily Mail (via Daily Record) has also reported that the Bhoys are ‘hopeful’ of signing the Englishman on another loan deal for next season as well.

The Englishman is valued at £5.85 million by Transfermarkt.

TIF Thoughts…

Forster had joined the Hoops on loan from Southampton in the summer of 2019 and he was a regular for the Hoops in the 2019-20 campaign. He made 39 appearances in all competitions, keeping a total of 17 clean sheets. In the Premiership, he made 28 appearances and kept a total of 14 clean sheets (via Transfermarkt).

This shows how important a player Forster is for the Hoops and proves why the club wants to keep him at Parkhead. Forster will get regular first-team football at Celtic and that will help his career progress even more. So the Hoops should try to sign him once again and that could help them in winning their 10th Premiership title in a row next season.
