Serie A side AC Milan reportedly still want to sign Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer in the summer transfer window.

Italian outlet Tuttosport (via MilanNews) have recently reported that the Serie A giants see Ajer and Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic as the two options to sort out the centre-back position, with Mateo Musacchio leaving the club and Leo Duarte facing injury issues.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

This comes after Calciomercato had also reported about Milan’s interest in Ajer as the Rossoneri are looking for a central defender who can partner Alessio Romagnoli. The outlet had also talked about interest from Leicester City, but Leicestershire Live has more recently dismissed the Foxes’ interest in the Celtic central defender.

All this shows that Ajer is attracting the attention of many clubs. His former agent had told Norwegian TV agency NTB (via Sporten) that he will leave Celtic in the summer and won’t sign a new deal, though Ajer has since changed his representatives.

TIF Thoughts…

The news surrounding Ajer certainly does show that his future at Parkhead might be uncertain. But the Norwegian defender made 49 appearances in all competitions for Celtic in the 2019/20 season. In the Premiership, he was a regular and played a total of 28 games as well (via Transfermarkt).

This proves how important a player Ajer is for the Bhoys and because of that, he could be crucial to helping the club win the title next season. If he does that, there is a chance his status as a footballer could increase.

He is only 22 and he could still grow and improve as a footballer. So staying at Celtic could be a wise decision for Ajer.
