Premiership side Celtic have reportedly managed to tie down starlet Daniel Kelly to a new contract despite interest from other clubs.

HeraldScotland recently reported that the Hoops have succeeded in their efforts to keep Kelly at Parkhead. The report talks of interest from Manchester United and Leicester City, but it seems as though the Hoops have managed to keep Kelly by getting him signed on a pre-contract deal.

Starting with an easy one: which Italian club did Nakamura join Celtic from?

Celtic were previously worried that they might lose out on the talented 15-year-old. Liverpool and Benfica were two of the clubs that were reportedly keeping tabs on Kelly, while many other clubs had sent scouts to watch the player.

Kelly belongs to St Ninian’s High School– the same school that ended up producing the likes of Kieran Tierney, Mikey Johnston and Anthony Ralston in the past.

The Hoops have already lost one of their talented youngsters in Liam Morrison to Bayern Munich, while the Bavarians have also been linked with a move for Barry Hepburn.

Can Celtic still lose Kelly to European giants?

TIF Thoughts…

The Daily Record had said back in May that Kelly had played for the Hoops in the Santander Cup back in 2018 and he had helped them finish behind Juventus and Barcelona. They also stated that Kelly had scored against Liverpool and PSV Eindhoven in that tournament (via Daily Record).

That shows that Kelly is certainly a talented youngster and proves why a host of clubs are after him. The fact that he’s from the same institution as Tierney and Johnston is a positive sign, too. Celtic fans should be pleased that Kelly has signed a new deal and has committed his future to Parkhead.
