Out-of-contract goalkeeper Craig Gordon is considering a new Celtic contract offer which is more weighted on appearances, according to the Daily Record. The 37-year-old is also thought to be attracting interest from Huddersfield Town, St. Mirren and his former club, Hearts.

The veteran stopper made six appearances for the Hoops this season in the Champions League, the qualifying and group stages of the Europa League, as well as the League Cup – but didn’t feature at all in the Scottish Premiership (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

Starting with an easy one: which Italian club did Nakamura join Celtic from?

Overall, Gordon has played 242 times for Celtic, keeping 121 clean sheets for the Scottish champions. He also spent some time in the English Premier League with Sunderland, for whom he played 94 times. The Black Cats paid £9.74m to take the player to the Stadium of Light in 2007 but he moved back north of the border in 2014.

TIF Thoughts…

With Fraser Forster returning to Southampton following the end of his loan spell with the Hoops, if Gordon were to stay at Parkhead, he could become the club’s number-one goalkeeper should the club not be tempted to extend Forster’s spell. However, the nature of the contract offer, which is set to be weighted on appearances could tempt him into signing elsewhere.

It was reported last month by Football Insider that one of Neil Lennon’s priorities this summer is to land Forster permanently, which could also influence Gordon’s decision. The 32-year-old Englishman, who is currently valued at £5.85m, has made 39 appearances for the club this season – and if the Hoops get their way, he may be returning sooner rather than later.
