Premiership giants Celtic have now been handed a boost in their bid to keep Kristoffer Ajer at Parkhead.

Leicestershire Live recently relayed an article about Ajer. The article addresses Ajer’s situation and suggests that the Foxes are not interested in signing the defender. It says that Brendan Rodgers’ side have ‘no interest’ in him and that they will not be pursuing a summer move for the Celtic centre-back.

Starting with an easy one: which Italian club did Nakamura join Celtic from?

This comes after Calciomercato had reported about the Foxes’ interest in Ajer, though Leicestershire Live has now refuted these claims, saying that Ajer is not on the club’s target list.

Previously, Ajer’s former agent had told Norwegian TV agency NTB (via Sporten) in an interview back in March that he will be leaving Parkhead at the end of the season, before it was confirmed more recently that the former Start man had changed his representatives.

TIF Thoughts…

Ajer has been a regular for the Hoops in the 2019/20 campaign. He made 49 appearances in all competitions, with 28 of them coming in the Premiership. He also featured in eight Europa League games for the Hoops (via Transfermarkt).

This shows that Ajer is an important player for Celtic and had a role to play in helping them win their ninth Premiership title in a row. The news about Leicester not looking to sign him should be a positive sign for the club, as a player like him could prove to be crucial in helping them win another title next season.

Given he has nailed down a starting place at the Scottish champions, it seems he remains an important part of Neil Lennon’s plans going forward.
