The Athletic reporter Tim Spiers has been discussing the future of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Portuguese winger Daniel Podence.

The Old Gold secured the services of the attacker during the January transfer window from Olympiakos for a fee of £16.6m (per BBC).

However, since his arrival at Molineux, Podence has made four Premier League appearances for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, all from the bench (per Transfermarkt).

So, in the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View Podcast, Spiers discussed the future of the Portuguese winger.

To start this quiz on Ruben Neves with an easy one, in the region of how much did the Old Gold pay to secure the midfielder's services?

He said: “Of course we can keep him and I’m sure when he joined, he knew he wasn’t going to walk straight into the first team.

“He did okay, I thought, in the couple of months we saw him. He was good at Espanyol away, albeit against a weakened team in a dead rubber. So, he’s just going to have to wait for his chance.

“I think [Pedro] Neto has sort of surprised us all, really, with his performances and since kind of November/December, he’s really come on and made strides.

“His [Podence] chance will come but yeah, just not quite yet.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Spiers had to say on the £10.8m-rated 24-year-old, it seems like the player will just have to be patient to get a lengthy first-team run with Wolves.

Do you hope that Daniel Podence gets a run of games in the first team before the end of the season?

Yes, I hope that he does

No, he's not good enough

No, he's not good enough

However, when his chance does come, it seems likely that he will have to improve upon the 6.13/10 average rating he has earned across his four league appearances (per WhoScored) if he is to make a success of his time at Molineux.
