The Athletic’s Tim Spiers has revealed an unusual request that was made by Wolverhampton Wanderers players during the last match at Molineux.

Since the Premier League returned to action, the Old Gold have played just one match at home and that was the 1-0 victory against Bournemouth last week (per BBC).

Of course, due to the current viral outbreak, that match against the Cherries was played behind closed doors (per Wolves).

So, in the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View Podcast, Spiers revealed that the players made a request due to the lack of supporters.

To start this quiz on Ruben Neves with an easy one, in the region of how much did the Old Gold pay to secure the midfielder's services?

He said: “I think when the players actually came out to warm up, it was silent and I think the players requested, ‘we need some noise in here, we need the music on to make it feel as normal as possible.’ So, that was quickly done.

“Then the stadium announcer was blaring down the microphone, announcing the teams and all that stuff. So, they tried to get this as normal as possible.”

Spiers also shed some more light on this issue. He said: “Yeah, there were a few little nuances. Like whenever they had a drinks break they played music quite loudly.

“When [Adama] Traore departed when he was substituted in the second half, they piped in crowd chants of people singing his name and things like that. So, lots of nice little touches.”

TIF Thoughts…

So, judging from what the journalist had to say, it seems that the players were keen on having music and noises played at Molineux to make the game feel as normal as possible.
