Hammers insider @ExWHUemployee has recently discussed the position of West Ham United’s Scottish manager David Moyes.

The former Manchester United manager has overseen 14 matches since he returned to the club and delivered a weak points-per-game record of 0.79 (per Transfermarkt).

Moyes’ record in his first stint with the club was a fair amount stronger, as he recorded a haul of 1.19 points per game over his 31-match tenure.

However, with the side currently languishing just outside of the relegation zone on goal difference alone (per BBC), Moyes’ position and contract were discussed in the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast.

To start this quiz on Mark Noble with a tough one, in what year did the midfielder make his league debut for the Hammers?

He said: “Well, he’s got an 18-month contract. So I mean, the question asked whether the contract’s already been prepared for him. He has an 18-month contract, he signed that in January.

“I don’t know [if the club would renew his contract if it expired this summer]. I think the fact that he’s got the 18 months means they’ll keep him, but if it was up in the summer, I reckon they possibly would still keep him.

“Again, [he’s a] cheap option and they’re gonna say that money is an issue.

“He shouldn’t have been appointed in the first place. So, the fact that he was, if he keeps West Ham up, the argument will be he did what he was brought in to do.

“It won’t be good enough for people, it’ll be good enough for the most important people and that’ll be the chairman.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what the Irons insider had to say, it seems possible that Moyes will remain West Ham’s manager for the foreseeable future.

Should West Ham find a new manager this summer regardless of if the club is relegated or not?

No, we need stability

No, we need stability

Yes, he's not good enough

Yes, he's not good enough

However, the fact that Moyes’ points-per-game record in his current stint with the Hammers is the second-worst of his career (per Transfermarkt), that certainly does not bode well.
