Hull City manager Grant McCann recently discussed West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen during an appearance on the ‘Sky Sports EFL Podcast’.

Bowen played under McCann, who has been the Tigers’ manager since July 2019, at Hull City earlier this season and the 23-year-old winger delivered some impressive performances for Hull this term prior to making the move to Premier League West Ham in January for £19.17m

Bowen scored 16 goals and provided seven assists in his 29 Championship appearances for Hull City this season. The 23-year-old is still the joint-fourth highest goalscorer in the Championship for the 2019/20 campaign, despite leaving Hull to join West Ham in January. Additionally, Bowen earned an impressive average overall rating of 7.35 from his 29 league appearances for Hull this term, as per WhoScored, which gives him the fourth-highest average overall rating of any player to have made more than the average number of appearances in England’s second tier this season.

When asked if he believes Bowen will “make a big impact in the Premier League” during his recent appearance on the Sky Sports EFL Podcast, Bowen’s former manager McCann responded by saying “without a doubt”.

The 40-year-old coach went on to share praise for the player, saying: “He’s an exceptional talent, I think one thing about Jarrod is his everyday behaviours that people don’t see.

“They can see him on a Saturday and what he does on the pitch, but during the week, [he is] so robust, never misses a training session, always the best trainer, really, really humble boy and I’ve no doubt he’s going to go on to bigger and brighter things.

“Who knows, he may even get an England call-up one day.” (10:38)

Considering how impressively he performed during his time at Hull City playing under McCann earlier this season, it may not come as a surprise that the Hull boss has been full of praise for the West Ham winger. These positive comments from Bowen’s former manager may be welcomed by West Ham supporters, as this may give Irons fans a positive indication of the 23-year-old’s attitude
