West Ham United are supposedly tracking the situation of Wigan Athletic’s American left-back Antonee Robinson.

According to Alan Nixon in The Sun on Sunday, as cited by Claret and Hugh, David Moyes is supposedly plotting a move for the defender alongside one of the Hammers’ former managers.

As well as the Scotsman, Slaven Bilic is reportedly keeping an eye on the player’s possible availability in the summer with the intention of bringing him to West Bromwich Albion.

The defender was set to move to Serie A giants AC Milan during the January transfer window for £6m, however, the deal fell through (per BBC).

AC Milan’s deal to sign the USA national could, in fact, have risen as high as £10m through add-ons.

The 22-year-old currently has just over two years left on his contract at the DW Stadium and a market value of £3.15m (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

While there may be concerns around Robinson’s health due to the detection of an irregular heart rhythm in his medical with AC Milan, he is said to no longer have a “need for further medical procedures” (per BBC).

Following the detection of the irregular heart rhythm, the 22-year-old underwent cardiac ablation, which has seemingly solved the issue.

On the pitch this season, though, Robinson has been in impressive form as he has picked up a strong 6.98/10 average rating in the Championship (per WhoScored).

Would you be pleased if West Ham signed Antonee Robinson from Wigan Athletic?

In comparison to West Ham’s Arthur Masuaku, however, his statistics are a mixed bag (per WhoScored).

Robinson has made more key passes (0.8) than Masuaku (0.5) per league game on average and also made more interceptions (2.0) than his West Ham counterpart (0.9).

However, his number of tackles (2.3) per game is weaker than Masuaku’s (2.6), as well as having a far inferior passing success percentage (67.9%) compared to the DR Congo national (80.2%).

So, it may not be totally clear whether or not Robinson would be a good addition for the London Stadium club.
